The HTC Lunatic is basically a heavily customized cell phone. They were designed by Chris Knight, a Malkavian, and produced by HTC (a real world company).
In March of 2010, a large batch of these phones was delivered to the Kindred of Oklahoma City. The Prince, the Duke and each of the Primogen were given a number of them so they could provide them to each of the Kindred in the city. One of them is provided to each Kindred, including Anarchs, Autarkis and Independents. If you have met your Primogen, the Duke or the Prince, you have been provided with one of these phones.
Technical Information
- The phone's operating system is a modified version of Google Android. Almost anything that can be done with Android can be done on these phones.
- The phones do not provide GPS or any sort of location information. This means certain things like Google Maps will not provide any location.
- The phones do not have a removable memory card, but do include plenty of memory (about 30 GB).
- The phones do include a built-in fold out keyboard and camera.
Security
The first time you use your phone, you are required to enter a unique and complex password.
According to the phone's Help Screen, they provide secure voice communication as long as your are talking to someone with another HTC Lunatic. Security is not guaranteed when calling other phones.
In addition, an application on the phone allows for sending of secure text messages and communication via a forum like interface. This is handled out of character by using the Oklahoma City by Night: Mark IV - Forums.
Contact List
You are provided with a number of phone numbers after initializing your phone:
- Members of your Clan
- Your Primogen
- The current Sheriff
- The current Scourge
- The current Harpy
- The current Keeper of Elysium
- The current Seneschal
The Primogen of each Clan and court officers are also provided with the number for the Prince and each of the Primogen. Court Officers are provided with the phone numbers for all Kindred.
You can add additional numbers that are given to you by other Kindred.
Lost Phones
If you ever lose your phone and try to activate a new phone, you can enter your name and password into the phone and it will transfer all of your previous settings as well as your phone number to the new phone.
